Exploring Art is dedicated to providing quality art lessons for children of all ages. We feel that integrating art in education expands the minds of children. It provides children with a chance to shine and promotes self- esteem as well. Our lessons are designed by educators, with student success in mind. We strive to create stimulating lessons that provide children with an opportunity to explore the arts. Projects incorporate background information, multimedia, and a variety of art techniques. All of our lessons have been "kid tested" in grades pre K through 6. We have designed our lessons so that anyone can be a successful art teacher.

Karen has been teaching art in Palos Verdes for the past 25 years. For the past nine years, she has created her own after school enrichment program utilizing multimedia art projects for children grades pre K-6. Starting with only one school, she has expanded to over 100 schools in the Los Angeles area. Karen has completed several art certificate programs including the Getty Discipline Based Art Education Program. She has also completed coursework in ceramics, print making, watercolor portraiture, acrylic painting, layered glazing techniques, and glass firing. Karen is a senior teacher for Art Clay Silver and currently offers classes for both adults and children.

Heather graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in Education, minoring in Studio Arts. She completed her teaching credential through California State Long Beach and went on to earn a master’s degree in education. She has had over 10 years experience working in the classroom, starting as a teacher’s assistant in college. For the past four years, Heather has been a third grade teacher integrating art lessons into all classroom subjects. She has also taught several art lessons through the Palos Verdes Art center. Heather specializes in jewelry making and polymer clay projects.
